Setting up your household

A household is created for you when you sign up. Everything in Trustiv — inventory, receipts, subscriptions, family profiles — belongs to that household rather than to you personally, so anyone you invite sees the same data.

Your dashboard shows a setup checklist until you've completed most of it. That checklist is driven by your real data, not by clicking through a tour: a step ticks off when the underlying rows genuinely exist, and un-ticks if you later delete them.

The fastest route to useful recommendations is inventory first, then a shopping list, then preferences. Inventory is what lets Trustiv warn you before you re-buy something. A shopping list is what it compares prices against. Preferences (brands, retailers, dietary needs, budgets) filter everything else.

If you'd rather see what a filled-in household looks like before entering your own data, Settings → Household has a sample-data option. Everything it adds is prefixed "[Sample]" and can be removed in one click, so it never gets confused with your real figures.
